About the Artist: In addition to his work on HGO productions, Byrnes has taught master classes for the HGO Studio. Other fight direction and performance credits include those with the Metropolitan Opera, New York theaters, Alley Theatre, Stages Repertory Theatre, Theatre Under The Stars, Houston Ballet, Ensemble Theatre, Houston Shakespeare Festival, and Dominic Walsh Dance Theater, among others. Byrnes has completed motion-capture work for animation companies in the United States and Sweden. His Society of American Fight Directors credentials include Certified Teacher, Fight Director, and Fight Master. He also is a director for theater and opera, a member of Actors' Equity Association, and a produced playwright. Byrnes served as an associate professor with the University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance for the past sixteen years. This fall, he will start a new position as associate professor and head of theater movement with the Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program.
